SpotIt uses artificial intelligence to analyze content. AI can and does make mistakes. SpotIt verdicts are informational only and should never be your sole basis for any important decision. Always verify critical claims through additional sources.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SpotIt at tryspotit.com ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users of SpotIt, including free users and SpotIt Plus subscribers.
2. What SpotIt Is (and Is Not)
SpotIt is an AI-powered tool that helps users evaluate the credibility of content they encounter online. It is:
- An informational tool, not a definitive authority on truth
- Powered by Claude AI (Anthropic), which is subject to the limitations of large language models
- A supplement to — not a replacement for — critical thinking and verification
SpotIt does not guarantee that any verdict, analysis, or output is accurate, complete, or current. AI models can hallucinate, misinterpret context, or lack information about recent events. Use SpotIt as one tool among many, not as the final word.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use SpotIt only for lawful purposes. You may not use SpotIt to:
- Submit content that violates any law or third-party rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload our systems
- Submit private personal information about other individuals without their consent
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or target individuals
- Circumvent rate limits or access controls through automated means
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without written permission
4. Free Tier & Rate Limits
SpotIt's free tier allows up to 5 fact-checks per day per IP address. We reserve the right to adjust these limits at any time. Rate limits exist to ensure fair access for all users and to manage operating costs.
5. SpotIt Plus Subscription
What's included

- Priority analysis (faster response times)

- Early access to new features
Billing
- SpotIt Plus is billed at $4.99/month, charged to your payment method on a recurring basis
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your payment card details
- Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel
- You can cancel at any time — your access continues through the end of the paid billing period
Refunds
We offer refunds on a case-by-case basis. If you're unsatisfied with SpotIt Plus, contact us at hello@tryspotit.com within 7 days of your charge and we'll make it right.
6. Intellectual Property
SpotIt and all related content, branding, and software are owned by SpotIt and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our brand, logo, or interface without written permission.
Content you submit for fact-checking remains yours. You grant us a limited license to process that content for the purpose of providing the Service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
SpotIt is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Any AI-generated verdict is accurate, complete, or reliable
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- Errors will be corrected
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpotIt disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpotIt and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including but not limited to damages for reliance on an AI verdict, loss of data, or loss of business.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of SpotIt shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim (or $10, whichever is greater).
9. Third-Party Services
SpotIt relies on third-party services including Anthropic (Claude AI), Vercel (hosting), Upstash (database), and Stripe (payments). Your use of SpotIt is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or policies of these third parties.
10. Changes to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms. We'll notify subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of SpotIt after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to SpotIt at any time for violation of these Terms, without prior notice. You may stop using SpotIt at any time. If you have a paid subscription, cancellation instructions are in your account settings.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
